Continued from --- a new pet.
The sun began to set and orange lit flowed in through the few windows as Anna navigated her ways through the winding hallways. There was a time when she would have gotten lost in seconds and spend hours trying to find her way out. It was actually these times she spent lost that had gotten her so accustom to the oddity of the seemingly moving hallways. Sure they didn’t actually move but on occasion they did seem to look like they did. It was as if you could walk down one and end up walking down it again. It was the case of the similar artwork and wall covering that could be found all over the place. The reminders of the life that her master and his coven had lived, everything a look into another era long passed.
Anna could hear the mansion coming to life as she made her way down the hallway full of bedrooms. The sun most of been down completely if anyone had begun to stir within. The cats still cradled in her hands as she tried to walk slowly and not disturb the creature. It had been surprisingly quite the entire time she had been moving through the halls, only purring and enjoying her company and touch. Anna found herself wondering if the kitten was so calm because of its ailments. Did the fact that it was blind effect its behavior at all? She had never really had a pet so she had nothing to compare the current moment to.
She soon arrived at the large wood doors of her master’s bedroom, which lay only feed away from her own. She stood for a moment wondering if Tristan had risen yet. Would he be angry if she woke him before he was ready? She had always waited till he was up or he came in to wake her before she would interact with the ancient vampire. She had never dared to take the initiative before today. She looked down at the kitten and decided that maybe the pain would be worth it to save the small yet doomed life that lay within her arms. He would surely be hungry and if she entered before he came to find her he may want to feed on her and she knew that hurt more than just annoying him did.
Anna slowly reached for the door knob and turned it, opening the door into a dark and quite room. She slowly walked in making sure to close the door with as little noise as possible. The room was large and in her state of nervousness it seemed to take forever to move across it to the side of the bed where Tristan was sleeping. She waited only a moment before speaking, “Tristan?”

The last rays of the sun crossed the horizon not moments ago. The day was done, the night was reign supreme, the creatures who lived and thrived in the dark would wake and start what was their day. Tristan Holt was no different, as a vampire he slept through the day light hours and roamed during the twilight and into the early hours of the morning. It was routine, he would not break as it would likely result in his downfall, leaving his sons in his wake, leaving them to control the council and this coven he had tamed and moulded into the perfect model it was now.
He was slowly waking up, living once more even though his heart was stone dead, resting inside it’s protective bone cage beneath his pale skin. A small series of sounds echoed through his ears, his eyes fluttered like the wings of a butterfly as he was pulled out of the darkness. The sound of light footsteps moving towards him, the sound of feminine voice speaking his name and the sound of a heart as beat every so gentle. Anna. It could only be his wee servant, she was the one with confident to approach his chamber just as the sun set, when the hunger was most prominent within him.
Oh his brave little girl.
However something was different, yes she was used his first name but something clung to her, a scent unfamiliar to even his old nose. He had lived long enough to able to identity a good few of the supernatural races by their scent alone, generally most had a particular smell to them but it was always unique to them one way or another. Lycans for example smelt like wet dogs but also like the morning after a storm, fresh and earthy. This scent was different, it was strange, foreign and almost unknown to the master vampire.
For moment that did not matter, he had much to do. This could wait until he had completely arisen. Forcing his stiff body up into a sitting position, he yawned, stretching removing tension that set in as he slept. “Anna, you know to knock” He told her, yawning once more. The silk covers slid down revealing his bare, smooth chest since it was only Anna, Tristan didn’t make a move to cover up, she was simply a human child, his servant nothing more.

Perhaps there was something to this 'being a pet' lark. She did rather like being carried around. To be in someone's arms, someone who cared, was a rather happy experience. She felt safe, warm, and wanted. She buried herself into the child's arms further relishing another body's warmth. She hadn't felt that in years. She found if she pressed her head to the girl's chest she could hear the girls' heartbeat. She could remember sleeping in her parents' arms often, listening to their heartbeats as she woke and fell asleep. It had always been comforting to her. It reassured her that they were there; that they hadn't left, disappeared, or been taken. It had been so long since she had pressed her head to someone's chest and hear their heartbeat. She felt nostalgic and rather happy at this moment. She refused to let herself remember her family was dead. For just this moment she wanted to experience something good in the world and in her life.
Upon feeling all movement cease Mckenna perked up her head and swivelled her ears around to try to find out what was going on. It wasn't long before she heard the child speak. Tristan! Oh my god! I must be in his room! If she had spoken out loud and been human she would have squealed like an excited fangirl. As it was all she did was meow in delight, a low purring rumbling in her throat. She then listened to his sensual voice as he spoke. Her head spun in that direction and pinpointed down his location. Without even thinking she leapt from the girl's arms and darted as fast as possible in that direction. Of course, due to the fact she was blind, she ended up hitting one of the leg posts of the bed. The impact caused her to stumble backwards and land on her bottom. She stayed sat like that for a moment, stunned, before snapping back to her senses. She could smell him. She rubbed her front paws against what she had run into before going up onto her hind legs. She managed to stretch her front paws to the matress, and without hesitation she climbed up, using her claws to haul her feline body up onto the bed.
She found herself panting a little, not used to doing so much since she had spent so much of her life locked in a small cell. Tristan's scent was even stronger up here. Meowing with delight she ran straight towards the source of the scent and ended up running head first into the male's hip. Unable to resist she licked his hip, before jumping up on top of his body. I should have definately escaped that cell and become a pet in this house a lot sooner. Mckenna thought happily as she put her nose to the male's flesh. She began exploring, and found she was at Tristan's abdomen and travelling up his chest. He definately worked out. She could feel the contours of all his muscles. She really did hope that Tristan liked animals. She realised she couldn't get her head any where further then just below his pecks due to his sitting position. Undettered however she began nuzzling at his chest just beneath his pectorals as she purred. This is definately going to be my cat bed. She decided, closing her eyes in happiness. She hadn't felt such peace, tranquility, and happiness in years.
Perhaps life was finally looking up.

Anna could feel the small animal rubbing its cheeks onto the warmth of her arms and chest as she moved around the halls of her home. And she used the word home loosely. Even though Anna knew she would probably never find her way out of these walls for good, it would never really be her home. How could she call a place where she was thought of as nothing more than food home? The small cat however was a sudden comfort. She smiled as she thought about having someone there for once. Someone that would love her unconditionally just because she was the one that fed it. Oh how simple it was to be a cat. This little creature was exactly what the young girl needed to get through every day in a world full of nothing but vampires.
It was not long after his name left her mouth that Tristan began to stir. She had done this so many times before and being in his room as he was waking was nothing new to the young girl. So, when he sat up, letting the blanket fall where it may and exposing his bare chest, she was not even slightly fazed. Anna giggled as the kitten sat up and meowed at the sound of her voice. It was positively the cutest thing she had seen in some time.
“I know I should have knocked but I was too excited and nervous.” She smiled at the ancient man with a look of happy excitement, “I found a kitten.” Before she could present said kitten it lept from her arms and darted in the direction of the bed. Anna gasped as the kitten went head first into one of the leg posts of the large wooden bed. Though, the look of concern quickly faded and was replaced with a giggle once more as it stumbled back and landed on its bum. She moved to pick the kitten back up and make sure it was alright but she wasn’t fast enough. It leapt back up and climbed onto the bed with graceful ease.
Anna watched, wide eyed, as the kitten pranced across the bed and preceded to lick Tristan before jumping into his lap and camping there. “Oh no kitten,” She quickly picked up the creature knowing that her master wasn’t the person to like such things, “don’t do that.” She cradled the creature once more before looking back at Tristan, who she was now only about a foot away from. “I’m sorry I didn’t expect it to jump on you like that.”
