"Yesturday was the tiime of our liives." Anna sang under her breath as she moved through the maze like hallways of the mansion. It was still early in the evening and she thought she would get in a bit of food before she was called off for a lesson or something. Tristan usually took relatively good care of her, but on occasion forgot she had to eat more then once a day.
"We were boorn and raaised in a summerr haze," She turned the corner to empty the empty kitchen, "Boound by the surprise of our glory days." She opened the fridge, leaning in to get a good look at the contents, "I hate to shoow up out of the bluue uninvited but Iii couldn't staay away, I couldn't fiight it." She pulled out some lunch meat and cheese before going over to the pantry and pulling out some bread, "If you could see my faace and that you's be reminded." She placed the ingredients on the counter with her back to the door, "That for meeee. It isn't ooooovvveeeeerrrrr." It was at this point that she let the song take her away. She started belting the chours and she put together the sandwich peice by peice. "Never mind I'll fiind Someone like yoooooooouuuuu. I wish nothin but the best for yoouuuuu twoooo. Don't forget me, I beg, I remember you said." At first she was jsut sining but then she lost herself in the words and started sining into her hand pretending she was hold a mic, "Sometimes it lasts in love but sometimes it huurts insteeeeeeeaaaaad." She turn around with her eyes now closed and stared acting like she was on stage singing the song. Doing things like reaching out her hand and making over the top facial expressions, "Nothing comarpairs no worries or caares. Regreets or mistakes, they're memories made. How would have known how bitteeer sweet this would taaaaste." She paused for a second as the piano played in the song.

Yawning, Selena slipped from the warm bed she’d been cuddling in with Julian. Jet lag had really hit her hard after the first day in. Only a few hours after arriving at the mansion, she’d been so tired there was no chance she was going to make it through a walk around of the mansion. Thankfully, her mate took mercy on her, putting her to bed instead of forcing her to memorize the layout of the whole building structure. From just the few halls she’d been down to get to the room, something told the young woman it was going to take a lot of walking to remember every hall and door. The second day had been a blur to her of Julian and her spending time in the room. Licking her lips, she walked to the bathroom, took care of her business before stepping out refreshed to take on the…night. A glance towards the still opened curtains told her, yes, it was night as the sun was setting over the horizon.
Selena stood at the side of the bed and stared down at Julian, trying not to laugh at his ruffled hair and how the blankets were twisted around his legs as if he was trying to pose for some Greek painting. Unfortunately, her stomach picked that moment to grumble causing her to laugh softly before turning away, heading for the door. If there was one thing he had made sure she knew how to get to, it was the kitchen. Because Selena loved her food. Grabbing pen and paper, she jotted down about having woken up and heading for the kitchen. She kissed his cheek before brushing some of his hairs from his eyes. “Te quiero con todo mi corazón.”
Letting silence fall back over the room, she left the room and entered the hallway. Taking the stairs two at a time, she arrived on the main floor just as she realized the sun had fully set and the night life was coming alive. Instead of panicking, she kept her head high while making her way into the kitchen, likely the only place vampires wouldn’t go into since they didn’t require food to survive. However the sight she saw wasn’t that of a peaceful night kitchen with maybe a servant or two running around. Instead, a young girl was going to town, singing her heart out while trying to make a sandwich. Blinking, she had no idea what to make of it. Did she look this ridiculous when she bounced around while performing? And who was this child? Selena had no idea how to tell a servant from a vampire and a vampire from a lycan. Faces over the past few weeks had just started to blend together for her.
Feeling like it would be rude to just interrupt, Selena entered the kitchen like there wasn’t a young girl having her own concert in her mind. Side stepping around her, she went on the hunt for a frying pan really craving some comfort food. Te quiero con todo mi corazón. – I love you with all my heart.

Anna opened her eyes as she breathed in for the next line only to see that she was no longer alone. The words stayed trapped in her throat as her eyes widened in surprise. How long had this woman been in here? How much had she seen? Anna was modified. She didn’t know this woman. What if she ran off and told everyone in the mansion about it? What if someone like Devon found out? She would never live it down.
Anna could feel the heat of a bright red blush as it began to spread across her face. She cautiously pulled out her ear buds and wrapped the cord so it hung like a scarf around the back of her neck. She had to find the right way to approach this without making herself look like a complete and utter idiot. She bit her finger and decided to move back to her sandwich before she said anything; her music still blasting through the now hanging ear buds.
Turkey. Cheese. Bread. Anna finished her sandwich and picked up her materials to move them back to the fridge before turning back to the woman. It was now or never.
“… Sorry about that.” The red only got deeper as the words left Anna’s lips, “I thought I would be alone for a bit longer before anyone else woke up. The sun just went down so…” Anna picked up her sandwich and stood there kind of holding it awkwardly, trying to search her brain for what to say next.
After a few moments she placed the plate onto the island in the center of the room and extended her hand, “Hi I’m Anna.” She smiled at the woman as kindly as she could muster in her current state of embarrassment, “Nice to meet you.” The little gesture seemed to relax the young girl a bit as she shook the woman’s hand in a familiarly polite fashion. “I’m human by the way and I can’t say I’ve seen you around before.Did you just move into our lovely home?”

Trying not to point out to the young girl she was there, Selena located a frying pan under a cabinet. Placing it on the stove, she walked over to the refrigerator and took out an egg along with the butter. The idea of an eggie in a basket sounded heavenly right then, even if it wasn’t morning which was when someone would typically eat one. But, she wasn’t that typical a person most days. Closing the door with a gently bump from her hip, she placed the ingredients on the counter by the stove. It had gone very quiet in the kitchen; the girl likely had finally noticed she wasn’t alone. From how the last line she had been about to sing had died on her lips, Selena knew for sure the girl hadn’t gone blind to the presence of another being in the kitchen.
Instead of being an ass, because that wasn’t in her nature, Selena went about making herself something to eat. Once more her stomach growled, but louder this time telling her she had waited far too long to shake sleep from her eyes. Turning to glance around for the bread, she spotted it next the young girl causing her to sigh softly, not really wanting to embarrass her anymore than she had by walking in on her little ‘moment’. Walking over to her, she smiled and nodded to the bread. “Do you mind?” Picking up the loaf, she removed a slice and placed it on her plate before closing it to return it back to its proper place in the kitchen. It was easy to hear the music still pouring out of the headphones around the girl’s neck and she had to admit, it was a pretty catchy tone. Going back to her small meal, she used a glass cup to cut a hole in the center of the bread slice, where the egg would go after it was in the pan.
“Don’t be sorry.” Laughing, Selena glanced back over to the now bright red faced girl as she cracked the egg and dumped it into the glass for later to cook. Already, she couldn’t stop the gently sway of her hips as music began to fill her mind. “I make a bigger fool of myself when I have my headphones in.” Buttering the bread on both sides around the whole she had made, she cut the stove on under the pan to get it nice and hot. “I only got up a few minutes ago.” Placing the buttered toast into the pan, it sizzled then got louder as she dumped the egg into the center. She took out a spatula and pushed the toast around in the pan to prevent it from burning. Hearing the girl speak up, she put the utensil down to face her.
Taking the hand offered, she shook it gently. “I’m Selena. Nice to meet you, Anna.” Releasing the hand, she turned back to her food to sprinkle salt over top of the egg as it continued to cook. “I only got here a few days ago, jet lag really hit me hard.” It was nice to know the girl was human, but if she was eating food she would have guessed either human or lycan…or a mix of them. Quickly flipping the toast and egg over, she managed to prevent the yolk from breaking in the process.

The woman, whom Anna now knew to be called Selena, said that Anna didn’t have to be sorry but she still felt rather bad that she had to see that ridiculously embarrassing display. Anna liked to carry herself with a bit of maturity if she could. Being surrounded by adults, let along hundreds of year old adults, had caused her to try and loose her child like wonder bit by bit to not be seen as a silly kid who had no idea what she was talking about. Sure in private she could be silly but she hated when she let her guard down and someone saw it.
Anna watched the woman as she cooked and had no idea what she was doing. She had never seen such a way of cooking eggs. What was it called? She would have to remember to ask once she learned a bit more about the woman. She had always been a little too curious about people for her own good. Her mother liked to say it was because she was noisy but Anna liked to think that it was her overly cautious deeply engrained hunter instincts coming out. Because if she couldn’t inherit the basics could she really say she was a Demarkus. “Oh did you come from far away?... I mean I don’t think anyone has left recently. Other then Kacey but she isn’t back yet as far as I know and I don’t think you’re her type really. But I’m only 12, so that kind of thing can get by me sometimes.” Anna paused to take a breath. She was rambling again. She always rambled when she got nervous. Another one of those things she had tried to hide. Thankfully for her Tristan found it more funny then annoying most times. “Basically I’m trying to ask where you came from and who you ‘belong’ to.” Anna made sure to add the air quotes and eye roll to the word belong. There was no one around at the moment that could get her in trouble so she wasn’t worried about it. She had always hated the concept of belonging to someone. People where people not property. She should not be thought of the same way one would think of a lamp. It just wasn’t right.

Selena reached over and cut off the stove as the toast and egg combination finished up it’s last minute of cooking. The warm smell of buttered toast and cooked egg filled the air, causing her stomach to make another protest at its empty contents. Hanging around Julian she tended to forget until the last moment her body still needed food while he was mostly on the liquid blood diet. Her fingers curled around the spatula once more to pick the food out of the pan to place on the plate she had used earlier to cut the hole in the bread. Shifting the pan off the hot burner, she placed it the far corner one to prevent a fire from starting. Causing her mate’s father’s home to burn down wouldn’t have looked good no matter which way it was spun. Moving around the kitchen, her fingers opened draws trying to locate a fork and possible a knife. Passing a glance over to Anna, she noticed her awkward stance causing her to smirk before shaking her head. “You care too much what others think. I can see it in your eyes.” Opening a draw near the dishwasher, she located the silverware but they definitely weren’t as shiny as they should be to be ‘silver’. Holding one up, she ran a finger nail down the handle of the fork before smirking to herself. Yes, fake. Someone clearly wanted to make sure the servants didn’t get any ideas.
Taking the fork and the plate with her cooked egg and toast, Selena placed the on the island on the opposite of Anna. She sat down in one of the bar stools and moved to take a cut out of the small meal she had made when her fork froze midway. Her eyes lifted up to the young girl and the very rude way she had asked where she was from. Running a tongue across her teeth, she struggled to prevent a snappy and smartass comment from coming out. “I was born and raised on the Isla de los Lobos.” Her Hispanic accent rolled straight off her tongue, a sultry mix of light notes and deeper ones. Cutting into the toast and egg, she popped a piece in her mouth to silence her stomach, nearly moaning in joy at the warm tastes that danced across her tongue. Swallowing, she sighed happily, instantly forgetting the girl’s very rude remark about having to instantly place her anywhere outside of the US based simply on her skin color. But the name of the blonde devil snapped Selena right back into a snappy mood. “If you’re talking about the Kacey I’ve heard about, know this…don’t say her name to me. She sets my teeth on edge.” Because that woman had her eyes on her mate and Selena didn’t share.
Taking another bite out of her food, Selena rolled her eyes. Belonging to someone was degrading. “I belong to myself.” She had no fear about saying that to anyone that asked her, vampire or human. Even Julian knew better than to attempt to chain her to his side like some pet. Chewing around her food, she jumped off the bar stool to head to the fridge for a drink. “But I will proudly say I’m Julian’s mate.” As she rummaged through the chilly refrigerator, her hips rolled from side to side as she began to hum under her breath as a song became stuck in her head. As her hand pushed aside a large pitcher of what she thought was kool-aid, she realized the substance was far too dense for red kool-aid. Her stomach lurched knowing that someone had stored blood right in the fridge, either to keep it chill or to remind servants where exactly they were while eating. A reminder for them to don’t think too highly of themselves or try anything stupid. Instead, she found something that she couldn’t mistake for anything that it wasn’t. Orange Juice. There, something normal. Removing the container, she closed the door before finding a cup to fill up with juice.

Being back home always made sleeping an unease task for Julian. Sadly this place didn’t even feel like home half the time but it was. This was where he grew up, around all these people and vampires. That was really the only thing that made him even consider this place to be home. That and all of his things were here. Imagine if he was always carrying around everything he owned from the last hundred and thirty years. Far too much crap to really think about it. Despite the lack of home like feeling he felt here, Julian still considered it home because it was one place that wouldn’t kick him out. Even if he dislikes his father, the door was always open for him to come and go. That was one thing he was grateful for and neither of them would speak on the matter. Right now, he had actually been able to sleep in his bed without laying there for hours simply staring up at the ceiling. Part of him thought that this was because of Selena. The woman seemed to know how to calm him down and having her right beside him at night made it easier to drift off. Why? He didn’t know, and if he did, he wasn’t too certain he wanted to admit it to himself just yet. Rolling over in his bed, the blanket tangled around his legs further tangled itself with him as he shifted. It was odd to think that for almost a year he hadn’t been sleeping alone. He hadn’t even been sure when Selena moved into his room at the palace but it happened and things just went from there. Now his bed at home being occupied again as well and it was weird if he thought about it. Not that he minded. Still half asleep, Julian began to stir, his eyes opening to find he was alone. Making a sleepy confused face, he rubbed his eyes, pushing some messy bed ridden hair out of his face. Sitting up, his eyes caught the sight of the note chuckling as he looked at the time. Leave it to Selena to be up with the moon. He had no idea how the woman did such things when he was usually opting to sleep in for as long as he could. Knowing that Selena was capable of handling herself without him for a while, the hybrid headed to the bathroom hopping into the shower. Once everything was done, he headed out to dress trying to find something that hadn’t been worn yet. Making a note to throw his things from his suitcase into the wash, Julian pulled out one of his old brown t-shirts and a pair of blue jeans, that were ripped in certain areas. Running his towel through his hair, he left it messy and half wet before heading towards the kitchen. He could use a bit of food himself but not in the same sense. Living off of a diet of blood made it hard to sometimes forget that his mate might need other forms of nourishment. He was starting to get used to that finally, and tended to try to remind Selena to eat something. Tired was the key word seeing as he often found himself being the cause of her distraction from eating. The walk to the kitchen was quite short of Julian as he knew the way with his eyes closed. The young man found himself walking into the small area just in time to hear Selena’s comment about not belonging to anyone. Looking around the kitchen, he noticed that his mate wasn’t alone and that Anna was there already interrogating the older woman. “And here I thought you were my woman.” he teased knowing that it was quite hard to chain Selena to anyone really. Not that he was trying. Falling for a clingy woman with no independence was not something Julian would have done. Of course he worried about her, but he knew if anything she could handle herself long enough for him to get there if needed be. Walking over to the fridge, he poured himself a glass of blood before kicking the door closed, he leaned on the back of Selena’s chair watching the two. “Interrogating our guests already Anna?”

Anna moved to pull a stool to her side of the island and sit down. She knew she had heard of the Isla de los Lobos, but couldn’t remember where. It wasn’t until she mentioned Julian that it hit her. That was where the werewolves lived and where Julian had been living for the past few months visiting his mother’s family. Julian had always been her favorite of all the vampires that lived here in the mansion. Well other then Tristan that is. He was kind and actually cared about her. Sure he could be a complete ass at times but he tried his best to show concern for her situation. He was actually the only vampire who really did, and that made him great in Anna’s book.
Anna looked down at her food and flipped her hair over her left shoulder revealing two small bite scars. A mark showing her master’s ownership; a thing that Anna hated very much but could do nothing about. That scar was proof that she was Tristan’s and no one could dare touch her without feeling his wrath.
She looked up as she heard the voice of the man in question. He knew her too well. She did have a tendency to want to know more then she was allowed to, but this was her family too and she had to make an attempt to protect them whether they could protect themselves or not.
A huge smiled spread across her face as she jumped out of the chair and ran around the island to the man in question. “Julian!” She wrapped her arms around his waist and hugged him tightly.
She pulled away a few seconds later and looked at the Selena. She could tell by the woman’s tone that she was rather upset about Anna implying that she was someone’s property. Something that Anna really understood. “I’m sorry if I was rude. I sometimes don’t think before I speak.” Anna smiled a politely as she could at the woman, “You’re lucky to have Julian. He won’t treat you like a thing instead of a person. Some of us aren’t so lucky.”

The flip of Anna’s hair caught Selena’s eye making her hone in on the bite mark. It was small, obviously done by fangs. Without thinking, her hand reached up to the junction of her neck and shoulder to feel the exact spot where Julian’s fangs had dragged her life from her veins. He tried not to do it too often, each time he claimed it was harder to pull away without taking even more. Running her index finger over the little pricks, they didn’t feel as noticeable as they had been right before the plane across the Atlantic ocean. But that had been roughly three days ago and even then they hadn’t been made expect for the night before they left. Her hand fell away from her neck, not sure what to make of a twelve year old being fed off of. It seemed like some sick form of pedophilia.
Picking the container of Orange Juice up, Selena returned it to the refrigerator door and turned around just in time to spot Julian entering the kitchen. Her eyes skimmed over his body, taking note of the hole in his jeans and his slightly damp hair. Someone had just gotten out of the shower it seemed. There was no stopping the silly grin forming across her lips as he slid into the place as if he owned it. “I didn’t think you’d be up for a good while.” She knew her mate well, while she was up as soon as the moon was, he was still completely out cold in bed. Her sleep pattern was a strange one, she was up with the moon, went to sleep for a few hours, and up once more with the sunrise. She’d been like that her whole life, never once wondering why.
“Soy tu mujer pero nunca olvidar intentando bloquearme a tu lado me mataría.” The teasing tone in Julian’s voice hadn’t gone unregistered in her mind. Her response was both teasing and very serious. Taking her glass of juice with her, she sat down in her chair once more in front of her food. Glancing up at him, she simply smiled before popping another piece of the bread and egg into her mouth to chew slowly. The blood in his hand nearly turned her stomach but she ignored it to keep the food bits in her body where they belonged. Blinking, she watched as the girl bounced out of her chair and hugged Julian in a fierce embrace. It was the strangest sight she’d been given so far in the mansion. A child that claimed to ‘some of us’, which meant her, weren’t lucky enough to have someone that treated them like a person, she seemed eager enough to hug one.
“I noticed.” Arching an eyebrow at the child, she found it hard to keep her tone from lashing out like a whip. Forgiveness wasn’t really something she had to hesitate to give out but this kid seemed to bug her. Were manners such a hard thing for some people to have? The two daughters of the duke and duchess on the Isla had wonderful manners but knew how to laugh and have a great time. Selena’s mother would have slapped her for asking questions in the way this kid had. Turning her eyes away from Anna, she smiled softly at her mate. “I know I’m lucky. I thank Luna for him every day.” Kind of sappy, but very true.
Popping some more food into her mouth, she chewed around it before saying, “I have yet to find someone that can even attempt to treat me like I’m anything less than a person.” Her will was strong, both naturally and because she had needed to be strong to hold her head high while working at a lycan palace. Werewolves loved to start rumors, whispers behind your back and it took a strong person to not crumble under their words and threats.
‘Soy tu mujer pero nunca olvidar intentando bloquearme a tu lado me mataría.’ - I am your woman but never forget trying to lock me to your side would kill me.

Keeping the glass in his hands, he took a sip having only filled the glass halfway. He usually had a quick pick me up when he woke up. Usually found it more appealing for the blood to be chilled. Part of him assumed it was his lycan side that preferred the chilled blood but he wasn’t entirely certain on the matter. He found himself wondering a lot about things that he didn’t know and his lycan side was still a mystery. It wasn’t like he really had anyone to talk to about these things. Yes he had parents, but they were simply there as breeders and nothing more. Swallowing the thick liquid, he licked his lips clean just as Anna called his name before running over to him. Before he knew what was going on, he felt the kid’s arms around him in an embrace. Chuckling at this, he shifted his glass into the other hand before putting his free arm around her in a half attempt at a hug. “Hey kiddo, I’d watch what you say to Luna here, she might bite your head off.” he teased. It was hard to do given that he was juggling his meal at the same time; however he seemed to manage a decent embrace. Part of him felt bad for the kid having to be subjected to being his father’s toy, and Julian often tried to help the kid out when needed. However, there was only so far he would go, and if she did something stupid that she knew was stupid, he wouldn’t interfere. He thought she needed to learn things on her own and he left her to that. Despite that, he did protect her at times when it was needed or tried to at least. ”It seems you’re habits of getting up early are rubbing off on me.” he added referring to her comment about thinking he was still going to be asleep.
Letting go of Anna, he raised an eyebrow as his mate spoke in Spanish for obvious reasons as not to say too much in front of the child. Luckily for Julian he had managed to pick up some Spanish over the time he had spent with Selena and her family. Some of the words he had to think about in her statement but he managed to make out what she said. ”Soy consciente, es pore so que yo ni siquiera intento de la cadena que para mi. A menos, claro esta en la habitacion hacienda algo…interesante…” he threw back hoping he had used the right words in that translation. Granted he figured if anything Selena would correct him or just make a funny expression. He wasn’t perfect but he was trying to pick up the language. Now if she was talking in French he could probably manage that easily. Hearing Anna apologizing for being rude only got him curious and his eyebrow rises as he looked down at the twelve year old. “What did you do this time?” he asked curiously wondering why how his mate had been able to hold her tongue. He knew how her temper flared and a small slip of anyone’s tongue could get her worked up quite easily.
Resting his arm on the back of the chair Selena was in, he grinned down at her at the comments not saying anything for the moment. Instead, he took another sip of the blood, draining it completely. He knew that having it around humans wasn’t that appealing for them. Settling the glass on the counter, he reached out and stole a piece of Selena’s breakfast off her plate before popping it into his mouth. He usually didn’t eat food but on occasion he would as it didn’t make him sick as it would a full vampire. Smiling innocently down at his mate, he licked his fingers cleans. ” And here I thought you were cursing Luna for sticking you with me.” he teased.
Translation: I am aware, that is why I wouldn't even attempt to chain you to me. Unless of course it's in the bedroom doing something... interesting..

Anna knew she was right about this woman. She did seem like the sort to have a fire and Julian confirmed her suspicions with his words. She didn’t want to make things worse so she chose to say nothing as so moved back to her seat and ate her sandwich in silence. She listened to the Spanish and wondered what they were saying. She had only just started learning to speak French at the insistence of Tristan. She was being forced to read an entire book in French and then write a report on it. It was taking her forever even though she was spending all of her free time on it but surprisingly she was actually learning something. She had retained a number of the more repetitive words. She couldn’t string a conversation together and have it in proper grammar and conjugation but she sure as hell could tell you the meaning a quite a few of the words at this point.
She decided that it was best not to ask about the language difference. It was obvious that they were speaking of those things she was too young for, or at least that is what everyone said. Tristan had this thing about her not knowing about things that could ‘taint her innocence.’ He seemed to be grossly unaware of the things she already knew before she came here. The world isn’t exactly a taint free place when it is all out there on TV and in movies for anyone to see.
Anna rolled her eyes to herself before she realized she was being talked to again. “Oh that is something I defiantly understand. I thank god I have Julian and Harmony to stand up for me when Tr… Master Holt isn’t around.” She smiled at the mention of her master. Even though he never did treat her very nice in public he was kind to her when it counted. She got why it was this way and wouldn’t complain. He had to keep up the appearance of being a ruthless leader around the other vampires or they would question his leadership. Much like that of her grandfather with the hunters. And really some of the servants and slaves had it way way worse than her. She knew that, contrary to popular belief, Tristan cared about her when it really counted.
Anna’s eyes widened as Julian questioned her about her activities. He knew her far too well. “I kinda… sorta… maybe…” Anna fidgeted knowing that even Julian could be cruel if he wanted to, “asked her what she was and who she belonged to. I know it was rude and I didn’t mean to but I spend so much time not being able to talk that when I can talk it all just kind of comes out whether it should or not. It’s like words just kind of build up and then fly out when I don’t mean for them too. I’m really sorry.” The words came out in a quick jumble as she hoped he would stand and listen to every one of them. Once she finished she found herself tensing up and shying away from the couple across the table. Julian had never been mean to her but this was his mate and she had gotten so used to people just jumping down her throat in his absence.

Where was anyone when he needed them? Tristan was hungry, Anne was missing from her room which meant too many things. She could be anywhere! The wee girl was like an eternal battery, never running out of energy. This was something that often frustrated the master vampire, especially when he was trying to teach her when she was bouncing off the walls.
Other news had quickly reached his ears, disturbing news. His son, his weapon had returned home but he was not alone. A human companion had come along for the ride, attached at the hip to the hybrid. His almost constant frown deepened, something had to done about this before it got out of hand and she was calling herself his mate. No human would ever gain that sort of position, gain that sort of power in his coven.
The library was empty as where her other haunts. One room left to be searched throughly, the kitchen. The very room left unused by he and his kin. They had no need to cook and prepare three course meals when it was simply not necessary. Pushing the doors open, he entered the kitchen his mind focused on just Anna.
"Ma petite.." He started but the rest of the sentence did not follow. The sight before his every eyes stopped him in his tracks, his son and a human, an exotic smelling human were standing in the waste of space modern styled room in this wing of the mansion with his servant.
"The prodigal sons returns" He taunted, turning his attention to his hybrid of a son. "Brought a snack it seems" Tristan was not going to let this one escape, let his son walk in HIS home with a human by his side. Oh no this human was not his son's equal. She would walk five paces behind him like a good like cattle should.
His mask had to return, no-one could or would know what happened behind closed doors. His relationship with Anna was simple, she was his human servant and he, her master who feed from her every now and then. His intentions would not be questions, after all she was a child.

Smiling, Selena watched with a sort of delight as Anna nearly tackled Julian over because of her hug. She wouldn’t say it aloud, not to his face at least, but she knew deep down he would…will make a wonderful father. Clearly he was being more genuine with the young child then he had been with her when they’d first meet. He appeared at ease around her, not the image of a guy that didn’t wish to be back at his father’s home because of some woman out to marry him. “I would not.” Mumbling, she blushed while staring down at her food. Was she really that bad when it came to someone annoying her? It would have been easy to blame her fiery Spanish blood because a good portion of her flare came from it. Her mother hadn’t done any job at trying to tame her daughter or any of her children. There had been some unspoken law in their home that trying to control a Torres child would be like trying to control a lycan on a full moon night, impossible and unthinkable. Grinning at him, she shrugged before speaking up, “I have to get my nightly hello into la luna.”
Passing an eye towards Anna, she wondered how much the child could pick up. Julian knew French which made him understanding Spanish easier and in less than a year he could almost speak it fluently. He needed to roll his r’s a little more, but she was pretty impressed. One day, as a thank you, she’d have to take up French so she wouldn’t be out of any loop he tried to throw at her. But Anna was far younger than him, did she know any other languages? Assuming that she didn’t know Spanish was about as terrible as Anna assuming Selena was from some other country based on her skin. But it was the only way she could talk to Julian with less of a chance for the girl to understand the very x-rated topic. “Un día. Tal vez por su cumpleaños. ” It was the best promise she could give him as the images already began to form behind her eyes.
Taking another piece of her cooked toast and egg into her mouth, her ears remained wide open as Julian questioned Anna about what she had done to need to apologize. It hadn’t been anything that terrifying or in need of punishment, but it had just rubbed Selena the wrong way. Scrunching her eyebrows, she swallowed the food before taking a sip from her juice. Anna was rambling in a very high pitched voice to the point all her words were running together causing her ears to strain in order to process each word. Blinking multiple times, she simply stared at the child taking note of her wiggling in her chair as if trying to force more distance between them. Glancing up to Julian, she titled her head as if asking without any words what the hell was going on.
“Hey!” Laughing, Selena didn’t try to slap Julian’s hand away from her food instead she leaned up just enough to brush her lips against his cheek. A sort of exchange of goods. “You’re lucky you’re not one of my brothers.” If one of her brothers had tried to swipe her food, she wouldn’t have hesitated to slap his hand to make him drop the food. Picking up her glass, she finished off the last of the orange juice, savoring the sharp citrus flavor coating her tongue. “You need to take better lessons in Spanish if you think that’s what I’ve been screaming out to her.” As she placed the cup down on the table, she smugly smiled right back at him when he leaned against her chair.
Turning her head, Selena picked up on the sound of shoes against the tile floor just in time to see a tall man enter the kitchen. Titling her head, she tried to place where she’d seen his face before. It only took a second for her to remember the large painting she’d seen in the hallway of Julian and what appeared to be his father and brother. But ma petite? Did the great Tristan have a soft spot for his servant? As soon as it had appeared, it vanished when his eyes fell upon Julian and then on her.
The patronizing tone Tristan used when referring to Julian egged at her nerve that was still recovering from Anna’s sly questions. Feeling his eyes turn to her, she had a sickening feeling about what he was about to utter about her. Her intuition had been proven correct as she pursed her lips. “If by snack you mean the delicious food I just made, then yes. However, if you are referring to me as a snack, then, buddy, we are going to have to have a serious talk.” It was one thing to be stared at by vampires since she had arrived at the mansion, but to be called a ‘snack’. The woman had to draw the line somewhere. She didn’t care if this was the great and powerful Tristan Holt, if she had to slap him straight across the face to get her point across she would happily do so. Translation: One day. Maybe for your birthday.

Teasing Selena about the fierce Spanish blood running through her veins was always something that Julian enjoyed greatly. It was interesting to say the least because it seemed that the fury and stubbornness that he found attracting him to Selena seemed to run in her family. Her mother being the worst of it, and he feared if he ever met a grandmother, he might get a headache trying to translate all the words thrown his way. Despite how often he seemed to be feel the fury from the woman, he still found her attractive, if not more so when she was angry. There was just something about her when she was angry that brought out the animal side in Julian. Hearing her deny that she wouldn’t bit the girls head off caused Julian to chuckle while leaning forward, moving his head near her ear. Tucking a strand her hair behind her ear, the young hybrid playfully snapped his teeth near her ear. ”You would Luna, and that’s what I love about you, your fiery passion, amongst other things…” he whispered before placing a quick kiss to her cheek as he straightened up knowing it wouldn’t be wise to start anything while there was a child in the room.
Going back to merely standing behind Selena’s chair, Julian’s eyes watched Anna sitting down wondering how far his father was. There was always something unsettling about the obsession he had with Anna and Julian knew out of habit that wherever Anna was, Tristan would soon show up. Whether it was because he wanted to feed, use the youngling for entertainment or simply because he had nothing better to do. So far he didn’t hear any movement but that didn’t mean Tristan wasn’t on the prowl for his precious little human slave. The comment about her nightly greeting to Luna only made Julian snort. “Just do yoga. They got a bunch of poses that greet the moon. Not to mention I could watch you bend and…” he stopped there remembering Anna was in the room. Luckily the caught himself before he said anything too perverted. If anything Selena could use her imagination to finish the rest of the sentence. Looking up over at Anna, he smiled at her hoping she didn’t understand where his mind had been going with that train of thought. “Te voy a mantener a eso.” he responded back pausing for a moment to make sure he was using the right words again. It didn’t take him that long to pick up the language but he had been able to learn with how often someone yelled at him in that language. Now all that was left was to teach Selena French. A triumphant smirk appeared on his lips when he successfully managed to steal some food of her plate without getting his hand smacked. “I’m just lucky.” he added his ego inflating once more.
His tone towards Anna hadn’t been one of negativity. It was supposed to sound somewhat playfully however he still found himself using the harsher tones he took with people before. It was a hard habit to kick but the young hybrid was trying. That and it wasn’t easy dealing with a kid sometimes, especially when Anna liked to pull stunts that always seem to get her in trouble. “Not every guest here is a servant or food Anna. Be thankful she isn’t a visiting vampire who’d have easily taken your head for such a comment.” he warned not wanting to see the girl hurt. It was harder for humans to distinguish vampires from other humans but that didn’t mean that vampires would be nice to them about their mistake. Before he could further explain his point on the matter, the sound of footsteps caught his attention just as the drawl of his father’s voice took the room. The first words spoken were quite a surprise as he hadn’t heard his father call anyone that before. This merely brought his eyebrows up in question as his head turned in the older man’s direction. Of course he had predicted the arrival of the man. There was no where his pet could go that the master didn’t trail after.
The good mood he had woken up in was completely gone now. “Tristan…” he spoke when he was addressed. The next comment about his mate only got a low growl out of him. Any words he was about to say were lost when Selena decided to stand her grown against the Master of the Vampires. Taking a calming breath, he rested his hand on Selena’s shoulder staring his father down. “I’d prefer you refer to her as my mate, not food. After all I don’t go around calling you’re petite a chew toy now do I?” he threw back in the calmest manner he could.
Translation: I’ll hold you to that.

Anna sat eating her sandwich and trying her best to block out what she knew she wasn’t supposed to be hearing. The adults around her were so used to not having to watch what they said that she had become accustom to just tuning them out at times. It was far easier then awkwardly sitting there while they went off on a tangent completely forgetting she was in the room in the first place. So, when the heavy footsteps came pulsating into the room from the hall she was more then grateful. Anna looked up to see who was approaching only to see the hard Scottish face of her master and hidden father figure. He was certainly a welcomed intrusion into the room.
She smiled at the familiar nick name as it glided off of his tongue. She knew he probably hadn’t meant to say it in front of his son but she still loved hearing it. It was a sign to her that no matter how he talked to her when they were in public he still thought of her more than just food to be eaten and thrown away. To him she was a person and not just cattle. So much so that it was sad for her when his softness faded and was replaced with hard anger. She followed his gaze to Julian and Selena. Anna knew he was not going to be happy about the human mate of his son.
She simply sat and watched the events fold out in front of her. She knew Julian was more than capable of taking care of his human companion that there would be no need for her to use her influence over the 1000 year old vampire to prevent him from killing her for presuming she was allowed to be his sons. That was until she spoke.
Her eyes widened at Selena’s choice to call Tristan buddy and speak to him with such annoyance and tone above where she fits into the coven’s natural order. This woman was either crazy or…. No really she could only be crazy. She had just talked back to the master of the vampires. A man that Anna herself had heard but not seen do some horrible things over the past year and a half to show is power and control over those around him. Whatever he did to her it wasn’t going to be pretty and Anna wasn’t sure Julian could stop him.
She made one of her ill advised snap decisions based entirely on the girls need to help other and overly brave nature. She hoped off the stool and walked over to the elder vampire. “Were you looking for me?” She smiled up at him really hoping that she would be able to shift his focus long enough for him to forget the comment and whatever he was already planning to do to Selena.
