Cassie needed a little shut eye. The day had been long and tiring and nothing would beat a nice rest with perhaps a book for an hour or so before a nice good night's sleep. Nobody could disturb her in her quarters unless they barged in and woke her up. Hopefully that would not happen tonight. Cassie lifted up the pillow so it made room for her head guarded from the hard wood behind the pillow, and she lay there with her blanket pulled firmly up to her neck, then she grabbed a book.
1986 was a year that will change my life forever. I was sitting outside on one summer day when a flash of beauty just passed me by. Her name was Zia. Now, this was love at first sight. I was gasping for breath as I tried to get control of myself. This moment was going to change my life forever.
From the moment I looked into her eyes, I knew she is the one, the one I would spend the rest of my life with, until my time was done. I was lucky enough that soon someone suggested a night out together. At that time, I was ecstatic as my only wish was that she would be there. I was even more thrown overboard when I heard she would be there. The few hours I had to wait felt like a few days. Finally, the time arrived for me to fetch her. She got into the vehicle and we went on a night out to remember for life. I couldn't keep my eyes off her. I tried to hold her and she was a bit defensive at first. It was a romantic evening as there was a full moon accompanied by the backdrop of lovely mountains. I started to talk to her and hold her hands. She gave in and we held hands. That was the softest hands I have ever held in my life. I simply could not let go of her from that moment onward. We walked around holding hands very discreetly as my heart pounds away. I have never felt like this for anyone in my entire life; I was shocked at the way my heart was pounding. This was the first time I had all these emotions, which was new to me.
This was the night where the grass was green. This was the night where the moon lit so bright. This was the night of discovery. The night of recovery... This was the night of a new love. The night where we became one.
We walked and let out some very inner feelings and the evening felt too short. She turns around when we were alone and I put my arms around her as I felt her soft gentle lips on mine. It was my first kiss. I kiss her passionately as I have never kissed anyone like this before. I felt a bit embarrassed. Did I kiss her correctly or did I look so stupid? For me that was the kiss of a lifetime. From that moment forward, all I could do is only to think about my love. I could not eat, sleep or do anything without any thoughts about her on my mind. This was the start of a relationship that would last for eternity.
I got home all flushed and excited, with butterflies in my tummy not knowing what was actually happening to me. I asked myself is this love and is it causing me to be unable to breath properly. Oh god, help me make sense of what is going on in my heart! My parents were taken aback by me and kept asking me if I was sick or was there something wrong. I was too occupied with her on my mind and hence did not say much. Following that, we spent days and nights on the phone. We even spent time sleeping on the phone! This love was far beyond anything I could have ever imagined.
She yawned and placed a bookmark on her page. She placed the book on the counter beside her bed, then put down the pillow and pushed on the light switch directly behind her. She sighed in relief as the only light was the dim color red of her alarm clock, shining with the time written on it. 9:45am. It was very early, but Cassie didn't mind a little sunlight, so she didn't need to squeeze her eyes shut by the light coming through the gap in the curtains, a small one but light passed through it with ease.

"It's 9:40, Ina. You do not need to be down here any longer. Aren't you worried about the sunlight?" Des hissed, pulling on Ina's arm. But Ina turned to her. "Why are you telling me what to do? Why don't you go and tell your pathetic little pet what to do? I'm an older and more experienced vampire than you. The sun does not bother me as I cannot see it. Now be out of my way, Desdaemona Richardson, the traitor in the coven." Ina spoke dramatically before turning back to her book. "Ina, you cannot spend sleepless nights studying! I know that your new project is important to you, but I do not feel you should receive poor sleep just to find the answers."
Ina was determined. "I am finishing my research whether you like it or not. This project will help the whole coven develop their intelligence on vampires and humans alike. I am not missing out to be remembered when I decide to leave the coven." Des sighed. "Some of us vampires, even more experienced than you - let's say, the Lieutenants and the Council Vampires. They are more experienced and they are intelligent when it comes to the vampires, or humans, the bonds they make and the blood and the transformations. I even know enough about this, about the whole blooming Blood Slave bonds and everything else."
Ina scowled. "Just go find your pet called Cassandra and leave me and the library in peace, you pathetic little vamp. Call yourself a vampire. Well, of course, you're nothing but a feeble little fledgling and you've already earned yourself a pet. Congratulations, on the first step to showing off how young and inexperienced you are as a vampire. You haven't even witnessed half of the things that go on around here in the coven. You are a wild little fledgling who goes bonkers and runs wild around the whole place. I call you crazy, Desdaemona, so you can just scurry off and not irritate me."
Des sighed. "If you say so," she replied, then wandered towards Cassie's room, then shook her. "Cassie!" she cried. "I need you. We need to get revenge on Ina."

The moon shone and the stars twinkled. The lycans had arrived in the dead of night, their howls reaching great distances and their legs pressed against the cold ground. The grass was wet and slippery but they managed to pad towards a place, a place where they saw the coven. Tonight was the night. The lycans pounced on the door, cracking it open, then running in, howling loudly and high pitched.
The servants awoke and headed straight for the foyer, one being Cassandra Black. Cassie tossed and turned thinking about this dream so far. Then it continued. "Stop! Get the lycans!" Cassandra Black cried, guiding the other servants towards the lycans. But soon the lycans pounced on a few servants. They all fell to the floor and Cassie was forced to watch their skin being ripped apart, and they died a miserable, slow, painful death in the foyer. Cassie tried to run, but the lycans were fast and pounced on her too. Soon it was complete darkness, and as her stomach was clawed at and ripped apart, the world began to spin, and soon it was dark, nothing but pitch black...
Cassie shot up and saw Desdaemona Richardson was in front of her. Her head whacked against hers then she looked dazed and picked up where she'd left the real world. Oh yes, she was in her comfortable bed, safely tucked up away from the lycans. At long last, freedom. She smiled brightly at Des, but the words shocked her and she frowned. "W-Why?"
